MIUI coming this week for Redmi Note 4G and Mi3

Last week, Xiaomi announced that their all new MIUI6 would be coming to their devices very soon. However the Mi3 and the Redmi Note 4G are the first ones to get it either by OTA updates or through the MIUI forums. The Redmi 1s and the Redmi Note 3G will get their updates by early March.

Immediately after the announcement, earlier this week, a lot of Mi3 users did mention that they were getting OTA updates, while a few were flashing their devices using the builds on the forums. Yesterday, Rohit from the product team of Xiaomi India put up the MIUI6 stable version on the Redmi Note forum and is now available to download.

This is a stable version that will also be pushed to users via OTA updates starting next week. So if you do not know how to manually update your device, you could wait for the update to come in directly, or here's a tutorial to do it.

Step 1: First download the zip file from here:

Redmi Note 4G:

Step 2: After you have downloaded the rom, go to Settings> About Phone> Check for updates.

(For Mi3 fans, if you are lucky, the update might just show up.)

Step 3: click the option key> Select update package> Select the zip file

Step 4: Take a backup and then click Install update.

Step 5: If it boots into recovery mode, select Install zip anyway and wait.

Step 6: Wait for atleast 15 minutes until it updates to v6.

Step 7: If you have gone ahead and done a clean install, restore your backup. Else you are good to go.

P.S. A Couple of users have been complaining that the Google apps arent working. All you need to do is clear the cache memory and it shall work.

Do let us know know if you have any more queries about updating your devices.
